Riverford began in 1986, with a few acres of veg, a wheelbarrow and a beaten up 2CV for deliveries. We’ve grown into a successful e-commerce business, with four farms, three packhouses, a fleet of vans and drivers, a wholesalers, butchery, organic restaurant and pub. We are now looking for a Customer Recruiter who thrives on making sales to come and join the Riverford team at our farm near Buckfastleigh. The majority of the time you will be on the phone; talking to potential new customers (warm leads) about the benefits of ordering from us or talking to customers that have stopped ordering from us, trying to find out the reasons why they have left us and working with them to find a product that encourages them back to a regular order. This is a great opportunity for someone who genuinely enjoys sales to sell a product which is ethical, healthy and fun.
You will need to be engaging over the phone and use your great communication skills and ability to overcome objections, to explain just how tasty and fresh our veg boxes are. Your knowledge of the stories behind the product will mean that people want to try our products and order from us; there is a passionate community of growers, franchisees, customers, staff and cooks all involved with Riverford which creates a great buzz about our products and our customers love receiving their veg boxes straight to their door. You may have worked in an outbound role before, or in face to face sales; what’s important to us is that you are able convey what is great about our products to our customers and that you have an appetite for closing sales. The position is mainly telephone-based, but there may also be some opportunities to work at farm open days, shows and events, and on door-to-door work, spreading the word about Riverford and signing up new customers.

|My name is Lise Madsen, originally from Denmark, but living and working in London since 1994. I am the proud founder and managing director of Honeyrose Bakery, an organic wholesale bakery based in the Park Royal industrial estate in North London. We are growing so quickly that I sometimes forget to look back at what we have achieved, so thanks for giving me the chance to do so now for you.
I suppose my story starts where my life began, in the wholesome Danish countryside. I could open our front door and in two hops over my mother’s organic vegetable and fruit garden be straight into the fir forests which went for a couple of miles, directly to the sea. One of my first jobs was at a seaside hotel where I managed to convince them, at 15, to let me make desserts in their kitchens. That blossomed my love for fine baking and I decided that was the life for me. I did a bit of research, found Paris to be the capital of pastry, and Gaston Lenotre the king. So at 18, after my baccalaureate, I boarded a train for Paris to join the Ecole Lenotre where I did my apprenticeship as pastry chef and then moved into project management in their catering and food business. I worked there for 5 years and learnt that pure, unadulterated baking craft skills can happily survive in a business employing 1050 people. You enjoy working in a craft bakery environment, producing the premium product on the market. No premixes, no preservatives, no additives – your skills will be put to good use every day as you take the finest organic ingredients and create amazing cakes, brownies, muffins, biscotti and more. Packing – You will prepare and pack goods in accordance with the company’s established methods. Your aim is to pack flawless cakes of the highest quality and your ultimate objective is to provide our customers outstanding service in terms of quality of product and order fulfilment – our customers expect the highest quality organic handmade cakes and that is what you deliver with pride.
Hygiene – Hygiene and cleanliness is crucial to Honeyrose Bakery. Attention to detail, thoroughness and consistency are key qualities needed for this position. You will clean equipment, production facilities, staff areas and offices in accordance with the company’s established methods, and in a manner that keeps you and your colleagues safe.
Delivery – You take our final products and ensure they arrive to our customer. Driving our beautiful LPG van in and around central London, you will know London streets well, enjoy interacting with customers and making sure we shine. . You are the face of the company when delivering our goods; therefore you will have excellent presentation and manners, and be on time.
Warehouse and Goods In – You are in charge of the Goods In Store, which entails ordering, dispensing and completing traceability forms, organising and maintaining the warehouse.
